Ring Size Guide: How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

Buying a ring online should feel exciting, not risky. The only thing standing between you and the perfect fit is one measurement — and you can do it at home in five minutes, with things you already own.

The simplest method uses a strip of paper or a piece of string. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you plan to wear the ring on, mark where the ends meet, and measure the length in millimetres. Divide that number by 3.14 (π) to get the inside diameter, then compare it with our size chart.

A quick reference: US size 5 equals EU size 49 (diameter 15.7 mm), US 6 equals EU 51–52 (16.5 mm), US 7 equals EU 54 (17.3 mm), US 8 equals EU 56–57 (18.1 mm), and US 9 equals EU 59–60 (18.9 mm). If you fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing up — a slightly looser ring is far more comfortable than a tight one.

Three tips that prevent most sizing mistakes. First, measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest. Second, avoid measuring cold fingers — they shrink by up to half a size. Third, if your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, measure both and pick a size between the two.

Every Auvielle ring can be exchanged for a different size within 30 days of delivery, free of charge. So even if your measurement is a little off, the perfect fit is never more than one parcel away.
